New Nintendo Direct Drops Mario Kart 8 Details
Nintendo started the day with a surprise Nintendo Direct featuring new info and footage about Mario Kart 8. There’s lots of big news, including new characters baby Rosalina and Pink Gold Peach, details about the game’s 12 player online races, and a new Super Horn item, but the most welcome news might be that North America will also be getting special Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundles that have already been teased in Europe. The bundles will cost $329.99 and include a Premium console, the game, a red Mario Wii Wheel accessory and a red Mario Wii Remote Plus controller.
Nintendo also announced a program wherein those who purchase Mario Kart 8 can get a select free game. Games included in the North American version of the promotion include New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD or Wii Party U.
It really looks like Nintendo is going all out to make this game the biggest entry in the franchise’s history. It’ll be interesting to see if it works when the game releases May 30.
