Grand Theft Auto V Minus Textures Equals Creep City

Rockstar Games is currently working on a PC version of Grand Theft Auto V so high resolution that it will display in 4K, but artist Kim Laughton went the complete opposite route and took the textures away from Los Santos.

The project, impersonally named los_santos.obj, is part of a Monaddigital exhibition called Flanetrie that opened in China.

Laughton’s bizarre new world strips all of the personality and weird grit out of Los Santos, but the skeleton of what’s left is in its own way beautiful and inscrutable. It’s like coming upon the bones of some great animal. And it’s also creepy as heck.
