Daniel Abt Nicked For Cheating In Formula E Esports Game

German Formula E driver Daniel Abt was disqualified and ordered to pay $10,000 to charity after it was discovered he was cheating in an official esports racing game by having a professional gamer compete under his name.

Organizers for the Race at Home Challenge series took away all points won to date by the 27-year-old in the series when Abt confirmed that professional gamer Lorenz Horzing was actually competing for Abt after Abt/Horzing finished third in a race behind Britain’s Oliver Rowland and Belgian driver Stoffel Vandoorne.

Abt was caught when former Formula One drivers Vandoorne and Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne suspected Abt was not driving and asked him to turn his video on in the next race so they could confirm it was him.
