‘Crossroads of Realities’ Takes GTA Tourism to a New Level

These photos, part of an art project by Benoit Paillé of Montreal called Crossroads of Realities, play in the space between game and gamer.

To produce the images Paillé takes pictures of his “wanderings” in Grand Theft Auto V off the screen with a DSLR. Then he shoots hands taking the pictures in studio, carefully lighting them to match the image from the game, and edits and composits everything together. The final image evokes a real person exploring a virtual space.
