All Future Forza Games Will Be Released For PC As Well As XBox
Until now, the Forza Motorsport series has remained exclusive to one machine: Microsoft’s XBox. You haven’t even been able to play it on Windows, a platform Microsoft owns. Why? No one knows why, but today Microsoft announced that longstanding strange tradition was ending. Forza is coming to PC, and it’s coming to stay!
“Moving forward, all of our games are going to be shipping on Windows 10 and Xbox,” said Dan Greenawalt, creative director at Turn 10 Studios, which makes the Forza series. “The Universal Windows Platform is great for the game developers and gamers alike. It’s going to become even more powerful as a way of delivering amazing experiences across all of the devices in the Windows ecosystem.”
The dual platform releases will begin with Forza 6 Apex, coming this spring. If you have a powerful rig, Apex will be able to run at 60fps and a resolution of 4K — the sharpest graphical fidelity the series has ever boasted. Apex will also be free to play, so presumably it’s going to be lesser in some ways than a proper Forza. But it’ll at least look pretty!
The next “real” Forza, Forza 7, is expected to be unveiled during E3 2016.
